Ryan Frazier Advances to "Contender" Status in National Program
Fundraising Numbers Among Highest in Western U.S.
February 9, 2010 - Wheat Ridge, CO - Ryan Frazier, candidate for United States Congress, is one of eleven Republican candidates nationwide who has advanced recently from ‘On the Radar’ to ‘Contenders’ status in the National Republican Congressional Committee’s (NRCC) Young Guns program. The Young Guns system ranks candidates in three levels: “On the Radar,” “Contender” and, finally, “Young Guns.” Candidates are named to the program by meeting benchmarks set by the committee, which include developing grassroots support and fundraising.
Frazier was one of the top fundraisers among Republican candidates in the entire western fourteen-state region of the United States, outraising his Democrat rival Ed Perlmutter with a total $217,202.51 in the 4th quarter. According to reports filed, Frazier ranked 2nd in individual contributions, 3rd among candidates who did not contribute their own funds, and 7th in overall fundraising (which includes self-funded candidates). The western states included in the analysis are Alaska, Washington, Oregon, California, Nevada, Idaho, Utah, Arizona, Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, New Mexico, Texas, and Hawaii.
Frazier’s 4th quarter fundraising numbers reveal that over 97% of his funds were donated by individuals and over 90% came from Coloradans. The numbers are meaningful as they indicate exceptionally strong support at the grassroots level. This remains in stark contrast to his Democrat rival, Ed Perlmutter, who earned 47.9% of his funds from special interest groups, the vast majority funneled from outside the state, mainly Washington, D.C.
Pete Sessions, Chairman of the NRCC, made the following statement regarding Frazier’s advancement in the program: “Ryan Frazier has already proven that he will be a formidable candidate by meeting the Young Guns program’s rigorous goals and is well on his way to building a winning campaign and putting this seat back in the Republican column. Frazier is part of a strong and growing candidate pool of Americans who are frustrated with the majority’s big-government ways and aren’t willing to stand idly by any longer. His campaign has put Ed Perlmutter on notice that Americans are ready to turn the page on the Democrats’ failed tax- and-spend agenda.”
